A Personal Approach to Family Law
Separation and divorce are very personal and emotional events that are regulated by our judicial system but which strike at the very core of our wellbeing.
The lawyer who helps you navigate through this painful process must know the law, but must also be sensitive and empathetic to what you are going through.
Andrea E. Hirsch has specialized in family law because she believes it is a chance to use her legal expertise to help individuals in the time of their greatest need. Solid legal counsel regarding a client’s rights and possibilities during this process can ease the mental and emotional strain that can be generated by the end of a marriage.
Ms. Hirsch has practiced family law since 1996 with some of the leading firms in the Washington, DC area. In 2010, she set up the Law Firm of Andrea E. Hirsch as part of the Collaborative Practice Center of Greater Washington to extend her family law practice with a focus on collaborative law. Read more about Ms. Hirsch’s background.
Over time, Ms. Hirsch has come to believe that collaborative practice is often the preferable way to deal with the difficult issues in the break-up of a marriage. It encourages the couple to recognize their mutual interests, and that of their children, in a non-confrontational way that can make a difficult transition as smooth as possible and lead to greater peace of mind after the divorce. Collaborative practice will not work in all cases, however, and Ms. Hirsch can provide the full range of approaches to dispute resolution—including mediation, negotiation, and, when unavoidable, litigation.
